Grossbart

Finished reading The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart by Jesse Bullington. Definitely entertaining. The definition of “picaresque.” What a surprising book to exist; I mean, it’s really pushing the limits of the “anti-hero” trope. Fun to read throughout, gross, maybe not shocking really. Blurbs and other reviews made it out to be more shocking and transgressive that it really is; it’s mainly just gross, and focuses on two thoroughly amoral characters. I remember Gravity’s Rainbow, for example, as more actually transgressive.
